CCF TEA

Herbals Natural Remedy for Digestive Imbalances

Just this past weekend, I sadly suffered from food poisoning — yes I know, the worst! The symptoms of food poisoning can be extremely debilitating. Not only your digestive system is compromised, but by default, your entire body goes out of alignment, when it is not being nourished or supported by the nutrients in your food.

WHAT IS FOOD POISONING?

Food poisoning is an illness caused by food contaminated with bacteria, viruses, parasites, or toxins. Infectious organisms or their toxins are the most common causes of food poisoning. Food poisoning symptoms may include cramping, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Most food poisoning is mild and resolves without treatment. Ensuring adequate hydration is the most important aspect of treatment.

THE AYURVEDIC PERSPECTIVE

Ayurveda suggests internal medicines as well as purification therapy to get rid of food poisoning. Ayurveda focuses on digestion of undigested food, increase of digestive fire and expulsion of toxins. First thing is, staying hydrated with clear liquids. Warm water will not only allow the IG track to expand and release quicker, but it will kindle your agni - digestive fire.

Since Ayurveda is Yoga’s sister science, it is meant to be practices and live together! Within the Yogic practice, pranayama such as Kapalabhati, or breath-of-fire, can increase digestive function, and Nadi Shodhana or alternate-nostril-breathing, can help you find ease from nausea, dizziness, and overall balance in the body-mind.

Practice these seated, or reclined!

Because food poisoning will throw all 3-doshas —Vata - Pitta - Kapha— out of balance, this is why for me, and for so many, CCF tea is an Ayurvedic Miracle TEA for this and overall gut health!

When it comes to your digestive system, this tea is a game changer. A combination of three classic culinary spices—cumin, coriander, and fennel—this tea aids in the absorption of nutrients and stimulates the lymphatic system.

Let’s look at the merits of each of these herbs to further understand the magic of this tea!

Benefits of Cumin:

  • Stimulates agni (digestive fire)

  • Decreases gas

  • Helps with indigestion

  • Flushes out ama (toxic waste)

  • Relieves congestion

  • Contains antioxidants and iron

  • Soothes inflamed mucous membranes

  • Improves elimination

According to Ayurveda, cumin is pacifying to both vata dosha (air and ether qualities) and kapha dosha (water and earth). Due to its slightly heating nature, pittas (fire and water) may find that, in excess, cumin will increase the fire element. However, the coriander and fennel work to balance the heat.

Benefits of Coriander:

  • Increases digestion and absorption

  • Treats intestinal disorders

  • Aids indigestion

  • Calms muscle spasms

  • Reduces inflammation—even shown to help with rheumatoid arthritis.

Benefits of Fennel:

  • One of the best herbs for strengthening agni without aggravating pitta

  • Stops cramping

  • Increases mental alertness

  • Promotes breast milk flow

  • Helps with IBS

  • Relaxes the digestive tract

  • Alleviates gas and indigestion

  • Increases the burning of fat

  • Moves lymph.

Pretty dope, right?? No more gas, stronger digestion, increased fat burning, fewer toxins.

When brewed together, the famous digestive spices cumin, coriander, and fennel blend into a delicious and beneficial Ayurvedic tea called CCF Tea.

CCF Tea enkindles agni, stimulates the digestive system, and supports the body’s ability to break down ama, or natural toxins. Gentle enough for daily enjoyment, you can sip CCF Tea throughout the day, and it’s especially beneficial before, during, or after meals to encourage absorption and assimilation of nutrients.

CCF Tea also serves as an integral part of an Ayurvedic cleanse as it provides support for the natural detoxification process. Enjoy hot, or try it as a sun tea with a squeeze of lime!
